
HGV Driving Bans in France
IntroductionThe following information relates to commercial vehicle driving bans on specific days within France.

The following days and times on those days which are are applicable include;
Days Affected- Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- days prior to a public holiday
- Saturdays and days prior to a public holiday: 10pm - midnight
- Sundays and all public holidays: midnight - 10pm

Vehicles affected
Vehicles affected by the above include all vehicles with or without trailers with a legal maximum weight above 7.5 tonnes.
Affected areas/roads
The affected areas/regions and roads includes the entire National road network
Vehicle/load exemptions
Exceptions to the above include the following vehicles or vehicles that carry loads which fall under the categories listed below;
- transportation of live stock or easily perishable food (fresh, refrigerated or frozen produce of animal origin; fresh fruit and vegetables; cut flowers), as long as they make up at least half of the volume or legal maximum weight of the vehicle
- transports on the occasion of public events (political, economic, sports, cultural events etc.), also border crossing transports. A previous exception allowing the driving of trucks that are returning to their home countries with or without payload, however, this was abolished on 24th March 1997.
Additional bans exist for vehicles listed under point 1) above on the named days, but only on specific routes (networks) as follows:
Paris - Orleans A10 between Paris and exit Orleans/Nord RN20; between RN20/A10 and Le Mans A11 between A10 and exit Le Mans/Est A12; between A13 and RN10; RN10 between Versaille and Chartres (RN123); RN23 between Chartres (RN123) and Le Mans (RN157).
Paris - Montargis A6 (incl. A6a, A6b and A106) between Paris and exit Courtenay; RN7 between Paris and Montargis.
Auxerre - Lyon A6 beteween Poully-en-Auxois and Lyon.
Clermont - Ferrand - Montpellier A75 and RN9 between Saint-Chely-de-Apcher and Pezenas.
Poitiers - Bordeaux A10 between Poitiers/Sud and Bordeaux, the ring roads around Bordeaux (A630 and RN230), RN10 between Poitiers and Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac
Bordeaux - Spanish border A63 from ring road Bordeaux to intersection 20, RN10 between intersection 20 and A63 intersection 8, A63 from RN10 (intersection 8) to the Spanish border

this section is considered up to date - things change. We would

the destination countries embassy or Transport Ministry that the
situation on local or national bans are as we've indicated.
