
HGV Driving Bans in Croatia
IntroductionThe following information relates to commercial vehicle driving bans on specific days within Croatia.
Days driving bans are enforced
The following days and times on those days which are are applicable include;
- Good Friday and the day prior to a public holiday from 3pm - 11pm;
- Fridays before public holidays that stretch over several days from 6pm - 11pm where the holidays fall on a Sunday and Monday or a Monday and Tuesday;
- the last day of consecutive pubic holidays from noon - 11pm;
- on a Sunday from noon - 11pm where the public holiday or the last day of consecutive public holidays falls on a Friday or Saturday;
Driving bans are also applicable between 12 June and 19 September on;
- Fridays from 3pm - 11pm
- Saturdays from 4am - 2pm
- Sundays from noon - 11pm

Vehicles affected
Vehicles affected by the above include;
- trucks with or without trailers with a legal max. weight above 7.5 tonnes;
- vehicles longer than 14 metres with or without trailer;
- tractors, towing vehicles, building vehicles and other machinery vehicles as well as vehicles that cannot drive faster than 40km/h

The affected areas/regions and roads include;
- Road no. 1 (border crossing Mecalj - Zagreb - Karlovac - Gracac - Sinj - Branze - Split);
- On the section of road no. 2 (border crossing Dubrava Krizovljanska - Varazdin)
- On the section of road no. 3 (border crossing Gorican - Cakovec - Varazdin - Zagreb - Karlovac - Rijeka)
- On the section of road no. 4 (border crossing Bregana - Zagreb)
- On the section of road no. 5 (border crossing Terezino Polje - Virovitica - Veliki Zdenci)
- On the section of road no. 7 (border crossing Osijek - Cepin)
- Road no. 8 (border crossing Pasjak - Sapjane - Rijeka - Zadar - Split - Dubrovnik - Karasovic)
- Road no. 9 (border crossing Metkovic - Opuzen)
Also affected are major road intersections which include;
- Road no. 21 (border crossing Kastel - Buje - Pual - Labin - Opatija)
- On the section of road no. 28, route: Vrbovec - Bjelovar
- On the section of road no. 41, route: Vrbovec - Sesvete
- On the section of road no. 43, route: Bjelovar - Durdevac
- Road no. 45 (Veliki Zdenci - Garesnica - Kutina)
- On the section of road no. 53, route: border crossing Donji Miholjac - Nasice - Slavonski Brod
- On the section of road no. 60, route: Brnaze - Trilj
Also affected are connector roads, which include;
- On road no. 200 (Buje - border crossing Plovanija)
- On road no. 220 (Trilj, border crossing Kamensko)

Vehicle/load exemptions
Exceptions to the above include the following vehicles or vehicles that carry loads which fall under the categories listed below;
- Vehicles that have transit priority and escorted vehicles;
- Vehicles from the Ministry of State and the armed forces;
- Maintenance vehicles for roads, electric installations as well as postal and press vehicles;
- Vehicles (without trailers) that transport cement or tarmacadam as well as vehicles that transport crude oil derivatives;
- Vehicles (without trailers) that transport easily perishable goods (fresh meat and fresh meat products, fresh milk and dairy products, fresh fish and fish products, easily perishable fruit and vegetables etc.);
- Vehicles (without trailers) that transport live stock;
- Vehicles that have a special permit.
Whereas the information above and other information relating to vehicle
driving bans throughout the European continent detailed within this
section is considered up to date - things change. We would therefore
recommend that if you are contemplating operating your vehicles within
any of the countries mentioned herein, you confirm with the destination
countries embassy or Transport Ministry that the situation on local or
national bans are as we've indicated.
