======================================================================================= Cookie A.Q. - README ======================================================================================= Cookie A.Q. is a program to monitor and manipulate you browser cookies (Edge and Chrome). In order to do this, Cookie A.Q. needs to read / write your browser's cookie- and history files. During the installation a Cookie A.Q. folder and a couple of files are created in the appdata directory. EXECUTABLES: cookieaq.exe This is the main program (visible program). insthelp.exe This ist a helper file for the installer to analyse if your browser settings support the necessary requirements (compatibility checks). These checks are also executed if an error occurs in the main program. isrun.exe This is the visible part of the InnoSetup which is used to install / uninstall Cookie A.Q. iswaiter.exe This is the background part of the InnoSetup which is used to install / uninstall Cookie A.Q. uninst.exe This is the uninstaller (launcher) for Cookie A.Q. DLLS: msvcp140.dll / vcruntime140.dll / vcruntime140_1.dll These dlls are part of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package. sqlite3.dll This dll is used for reading and writing the browser's SQLite files. TEXT AND DATA FILES: autoupdater If the user enabled automatic updates during setup, this file is created as a flag for the updater. The installer will also start the cookieaq updater.exe if automatic updates are enabled. fZuiRt5u7 This file is a flag written by InnoSetup. It is created to terminate iswaiter.exe when the installation is complete. Cookie A.Q EULA.rtf The Cookie A.Q. EULA. cookieaq.res After installation, the setup (with insthelp.exe: see above) checks if Cookie A.Q. can access the browser cookies and is installed properly. For that purpose cookieaq.exe is started once, checks itself and then creates a cookieaq.res file with the result (typically "ok") of that check. cookieAQ.tmp.ch.dat [temporary file] The Chrome browser sometimes locks the SQLite files, so we create a temporay copy to read all cookies. This file is the temporary copy of the Cookie SQLite file. cookieAQ.tmp.ed.dat [temporary file] The Edge browser sometimes locks the SQLite files, so we create a temporay copy to read all cookies. This file is the temporary copy of the Cookie SQLite file. cookieaq.uninst [temporary file] This file is created by the uninstaller to inform any running Cookie A.Q. instance to quit. ICONS: cookieaq.ico Cookie A.Q. icon file. The setup also creates a subfolder "updater" with the following files. EXECUTABLES: cookieaq updater.exe This is the updater. If the user enabled automatic updates during the installation, this program is started by the setup and also registered to autostart after reboot. cookieqaq updater.res After installation, the setup (with insthelp.exe: see above) checks if the Cookie A.Q. updater was installed properly. For that purpose cookieaq updater.exe is started once, checks itself and then creates a cookieaq updater.res file with the result (typically "ok") of that check. DLLS: sqlite3.dll This dll is used for reading updateinfo.tmp.dat (SQLite file: see below). TEXT AND DATA FILES: update.dat / cookieQA.ts These files are created to remember the last update call hash and timestamp hash. These hashes are NOT used to identify the user. Instead, they are used internally to make sure that the update executable has not been tampered with by comparing the hash values with the next set of hash values from the server. updateinfo.tmp.dat [temporary SQLite file] This file is created during the update process and contains all relevant information for the update process in the SQLite format. cookieaq.uninst [temporary file] This file is created by the uninstaller to inform any running Cookie A.Q. Updater instance to quit.
